• Myeloma and plasma cell disorders
• Myeloproliferative disorders
• Myelodysplastic syndromes
• Leukaemia
Examples of non-malignant conditions we manage include:
• Iron deficiency
• Iron overload disorders, including haemochromatosis
• Clotting disorders, including deep and superficial vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism
• Bleeding disorders
We also investigate and provide expert advice on abnormal blood counts and paraprotein disorders.
Patients may require additional blood tests and may visit our onsite pathology provider.
This is a procedure that may be requested by your haematologist to investigate the cause of certain blood test abnormalities. It plays an essential role in the diagnosis of various haematological conditions. This test is not offered in the practice but will be organised by your haematologist at a specialised pathology provider within the area.
Iron infusions are available and administered by experienced nurses within the urgent care area of our practice. An appropriate booking will be arranged during the consultation.
This is a procedure whereby whole blood is removed to treat various iron overload disorders and haematological conditions associated with excessive production of red cells.
Chemotherapy is not administered at our practice. Should you require chemotherapy, the location of your treatment will depend on the type of condition, the complexity of the regimen, and your level of private health insurance. Simple chemotherapy regimens can be delivered at the Norwest Private Hospital infusion centre and will be overseen by your haematologist. Urgent or more complex regimens may need to be facilitated at Blacktown Hospital Cancer Centre.
Blood transfusions, or infusions of blood derivatives (e.g. intravenous immunoglobulins), can be delivered at the Norwest Private Hospital infusion centre or Blacktown Hospital depending on your preferences and level of private health insurance.
